Livonia Community’s Miranda Tucker had the best chance at taking down a meet record during day one prelims of the 2015 USA Swimming Summer Junior Nationals, and will get another crack at it during finals.

Women’s 200 fly

The top three seeds held from the psych sheet with SoCal’s Ella Eastin leading the way with a 2:12.58 this morning.  Pay-Ma’s Emma Seiberlich claimed the second seed into finals with a 2:12.63.  That’s a lifetime best by a slim margin, clearing her previous mark of 2:12.69 from sectionals earlier this month.

Longhorn’s Victoria Edwards snagged the third seed heading into the A final with a time of 2:12.73, also a slight best ahead of her 2:12.79 from the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series in January.

That top trio has some serious time to drop to challenge Jasmine Tosky’s 2010 junior national record of 2:09.28.

Longhorn’s Dakota Luther (2:12.82), GPAC’s Delaney Walz (2:14.12), SwimAtlanta’s Haley McInerny (2:14.40), Longhorns’ Remedy Rule (2:14.68) and FAST’s Bailey Nero (2:14.68) also made the championship heat.

Kim Williams (2:14.80), Jasmine Margetts (2:14.84) and Nikki Smith (2:14.84) also put up 2:14s, but will settle for the B final this evening.

Carter Carter (2:15.34), Jocelyn Wang (2:15.41), Kenisha Liu (2:15.60), Carley Lowe (2:15.67) and Jewels Harris (2:15.74) will join them in the consolation heat.

Men’s 200 fly

A pair of swimmers cleared 2:01 this morning to lead the way into the championship heat.

BlueFish’s Max Miranda cleared his personal best of 2:00.79 from sectionals in March to top qualifying in a time of 2:00.21. He should break 2:00 for the first time in his career during finals.

North Carolina’s Will MacMillan put up a second-seeded time of 2:00.79 to join Miranda in the top two.

Maxime Rooney of the Pleasanton Seahawks, the pre-meet top seed with a 1:59.26, cruised into the A final with a 2:01.18.  Arizona Gold’s Mark Jurek, meanwhile, grabbed the fourth seed in 2:01.21.

Andrew Seliskar’s meet record of 1:56.54 from 2013 looks safe.

NBAC’s Cole Buese (2:01.27), NCAP’s Sam Pomajevich (2:01.29), North Texas’ Jack Levant (2:01.62) and Gold’s Alarii Levreault-Lopez (2:01.66) snared the rest of the transfer spots into the championship heat.

Sean Lee (2:01.68) just missed the top eight as the only other sub-2:02 swimmer this morning.  He will lead the B finalists this evening barring a scratch.

John Montesi (2:02.32), Tom Bilden (2:02.32), Brendan Meyer (2:02.50), Jose Martinez (2:02.62), Sean Grieshop (2:02.65), Lucca Martins (2:02.77) and Joey Carbone (2:02.80) claimed the rest of the lanes in the consolation finale.

Women’s 100 breast

Livonia Community’s Miranda Tucker smashed the preliminary field in qualifying with a top time of 1:08.83.  No one came within a second of her time this morning as she broke through the 1:09 barrier for the first time.  That cleared her lifetime best of 1:09.11 from sectionals in March.

Tucker should take down a junior national record tonight, currently held by Kasey Carlson with a 1:08.29 from back in 2008 in Minneapolis.

Nashville’s Allie Raab qualified second in 1:10.43, just clearing her best of 1:10.49, while Texas Ford’s Rachel Ramey, 16, cut more than a second off her best of 1:12.53 with a third-seeded 1:10.88.

PASA’s Grace Zhao (1:10.93), Walnut Creek’s Marie-Claire Schillinger (1:11.22), Triangle’s Julia Poole (1:11.31), Buenaventura’s Alicia Harrison (1:11.55) and Bellevue’s Kim Williams (1:11.56) also made their way into the championship heat.

Val Tarazi (1:11.57), Ella Nelson (1:11.57), Alex Walsh (1:11.63), Julia-Jane-Eskew (1:11.67), Zoe Bartel (1:11.67), Rachel Cunningham (1:11.87), Meagan Popp (1:11.94) and Madison Winstead (1:11.94) qualified ninth through 16th to comprise the B final field.

Men’s 100 breast

Indiana University’s Ian Finnerty put up the top time in prelims as the only swimmer to break 1:03.  He clocked a 1:02.66, just off his personal best of 1:02.63.

Excel’s Ethan Browne hit the wall second in prelims with a time of 1:03.28 with PASA’s Jeremy Babinet qualifying third in 1:03.33.

Aqua Swim Club’s Devon Nowicki, the pre-meet top seed with a 1:01.96, checked in with a fourth-seeded 1:03.48 out of prelims.

There’s a good chance Carsten Vissering will see his meet record of 1:01.94 from 2013 fall without being able to defend it as he is at the NCSA Junior Nationals in Indianapolis this weekend.

Current’s Thomas Brewer (1:03.49), Bolles’ Rio Kurihara (1:03.57), Tucson Ford’s Matt Salerno (1:03.78) and Walnut Creek’s Hank Poppe (1:03.85) will also battle in the A final.

Missouri’s Jordan O’Brien clocked in at 1:03.96, but missed the A final and will pace the consolation heat this evening.

Will Hofstadter (1:04.08), James Daugherty (1:04.18), Christian Bals (1:04.22), Judd Howard (1:04.27), Tommy Cope (1:04.27), Gary Kostbade (1:04.30) and Billy Monjay (1:04.30) earned the other B final lanes.
