Minot Men Defend State Title in the North Dakota State Championship

GRAND FORKS, North Dakota, March 26. MINOT's men's team successfully defended its state title in the 2007 North Dakota State Championship.

Minot walked away with the title, outscoring its opponents by over 100 points (413). Grand Forks placed second with 302 points while West Fargo came in third, scoring 263 points.

Senior Jake Gerszewski from Grand Forks placed first in both his events, besting the field in the 200 freestyle (1:46.35) and the 500 freestyle (4:47.99).

Fargo North senior Carl Battle rounded out the field of double event winners after taking gold medals in the 50 (21.43) and 100 (48.55) freestyle events.

Junior Ian Straehley from Century edged the diving competition, taking the gold medal with a 417.55 score. Senior Richie Sagmille from Sandan placed second with 407.15 points while Minot junior Layne Nordquist finished third (402.95).
