Minnesota State-Mankato vs. Northern Iowa

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa, January 14. THE University of Northern Iowa Panthers topped the Minnesota State, Mankato Mavericks 161-82. Of the thirteen events on the night, the Panthers took the top-spot in twelve of them. Bethany Olson and Chelsea Hartman both finished the night with two first-place finishes.

Olson took first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. She scored a season-best score of 265.65 points in the 1-meter and 269.85 point in the 3-meter.

Hartman took first in the 500 freestyle finishing with a time of 5:11.69. Finishing with a season-best time of 10:30.73, Hartman took first in the 1,000 freestyle as well.

The Panthers swept the 1,000 freestyle taking the top-three spots. Hartman took first, followed by Kelly McCullough (11:12.52) in second and Stephanie Yattoni (11:17.04) in third.

Caryn Knight took second in the 200 freestyle. She finished with a time of 2:02.54.

With a time of 24.77, Stephanie Frederick took first in the 50 freestyle. Teammate Josie Itzen also took the top-spot in the 200 IM to score team points for the Panthers. She finished the swim with a time of 2:14.80.

Taking first in the 100 butterfly, Jaime Pearson finished the race with a time of 1:01.63. Teammate Kayla McCormick took third with a time of 1:03.25.

Rebecca Ortmann finished with a time of 55.51, taking first in the 100 freestyle. Itzen took third finishing with a time of 55.94.

Natalie Johnson, McCullough and Petersen swept the 100 backstroke. Johnson finished with a time of 1:01.65, followed by McCullough with a time of 1:02.44 and Petersen in 1:03.37.

In the 100 breaststroke, Ashley Mangrich took the top-spot. She finished with a time of 1:09.03, followed by Knight with a time of 1:09.26.

The relay team of Jody Petersen, Caryn Knight, Jaime Pearson and Stephanie Frederick took the top-spot in the 200 medley relay. The quartet finished with a time of 1:52.44.

Frederick, Smith, Itzen and Ortmann finished the night with a first place time. The team finished with a time of 1:40.15.

The Panthers next action is tomorrow Sat., Jan. 15 at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m.
