Minnesota Boys High School State Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, March 11. AT the Minnesota A Boys High School State Championships, Breck/Blake won (296), followed by St. Thomas Academy (267) and Red Wing (208). For the AA boys, Edina took first (268), Minnetonka placed second (225), and Rochester Century finished third (168).

A Results
Sophomore Mike Hurley (Fergus Falls) set a meet record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.58. He also won the 100 backstroke (57.49).

Eighth-grader Mitchell Foster (Breck/Blake) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.15. He joined Thomas Winslow, Sam Pritzker, and Jack Markusen for a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:38.67).

The top three finishers in the diving competition were Red Wing's Turner Eckstrom (430.40), Mankato West's Luke Weber (395.90), and Mankato/Loyal's Zach Small (341.60).

Markusen, Winslow, Austin Gromatzky, and Nathan Yueh teamed up for a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.40). Yueh also won the 200 (1:41.86) and 500 (4:49.26) freestyles.

Dassel-Cokato / Litchfield's Tim Waler won the 50 (21.39) and 100 (47.42) freestyles.

Yueh, Gromatzky, Pritzker, and Foster closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:14.18).

AA Results
Rosemount set a meet record in the 200 medley relay (1:34.26). The group of Devon Meeks, David Stern, Tony Spiel, and Max Hubbard surpassed Minnetonka's 1998 record y only .01 seconds. Meeks also won the individual 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.73.

Kendrick Bachman of Roch John Marshall had dual individual wins. He won the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.55 and set a meet record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 55.84.

Dwight Baker (Elk River) won the diving competition with a score of 433.85. Chris White (Rochester Mayor) and Ryan Panure (Hopkins) followed with scores of 412.00 and 363.35 respectively.

Junior Drew Johnson (Edina) won the 200 (1:38.95) and 100 (45.15) freestyles. He teamed up with Michael Bergstrom, Mike Gratz, and Chris Satterthwaite for a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:06.13).

Max Hubbard and Tristan Boyd combined with Stern and Meeks in the 200 freestyle relay for a first-place finishing time of 1:25.39.
