Australia’s Minna Atherton nearly downed her meet record during semis of the women’s 100-meter back at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.

Atherton clocked a top time of 59.86, just off her meet mark of 59.83 from prelims.

That time is currently listed as a World Junior record, but is well short of the unratified top time of 59.58 posted by Claire Adams of the U.S. at USA Nationals earlier this month.

Just five swimmers 18-and-under have broken 1:00 this year.

Canada’s Danielle Hanus (1:00.75), Russia’s Irina Prikhodko (1:00.80) and New Zealand’s Bobbi Gichard (1:00.88) also broke 1:01 to make the finale.

New Zealand’s Gabrielle Fa’Amausili (1:01.15) and USA’s Grace Ariola (1:01.42) snagged the finale two spots in finals tomorrow.
