Mimosa Jallow of Swimming Jyvaskyla set a pair of Finnish national records at the Finnish Grand Prix 3 in Espoo this weekend.

Jallow first took down the women’s 50-meter backstroke national record with a 28.38.  That swim cleared the 28.61 Anni Alitalo posted during semifinals of the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona.

Jallow then lowered her second Finnish mark in the women’s 100-meter back with a 1:01.36. That performance eclipsed the 1:01.94 set by Hanna-Maria Seppala at the 2008 European Championships in Eindhoven.

Jallow had some head-to-head matchups with Seppala, who is still active and still owns a handful of Finnish records from 2008 and 2009.

Seppala won the 50-meter free, 25.67 to 26.06, with Jallow placing second. Jallow also took second to Seppala in the 100-meter free, 55.92 to 57.27.
