Milorad Cavic Sat Down at European Championships

EINDHOVEN, Netherlands, March 21. SERBIAN Milorad Cavic has been suspended for the rest of the European Championships taking place in Eindhoven, according to an article on SwimNews.com.

Craig Lord reports that "his crime was to wear a t-shirt declaring that 'Kosovo is Serbia' (in his own language) when on the podium collecting his gold for the 50m butterfly, in a European record of 23.11."

Recently, Kosovo declared independence from Serbia and has received partial recognition of its independence throughout the world. Cavic chose to make his political statement from the podium.

Lord's article gets into some of the deeper issues involved in the situation.
