Michael Phelps Set to Appear As Himself on USA Network’s “Suits”

TORONTO, Canada, August 28. MICHAEL Phelps is diving back into acting on what he calls his favorite scripted television show, as the Olympic legend is set to make a cameo in the USA Network drama “Suits” next year.

The show, which follows the lives of lawyers in a high-priced firm in New York City (though filmed in Toronto), is wrapping up its summer-season run next month, but will resume later this year with new episodes. One of them will feature Phelps visiting the firm as Harvey Specter, played by Gabriel Macht, tries to convince Phelps to become a client.

Phelps was vocal about his love of the series last month in a Tweet:

#suits season 3 is awesooommeee!!!– Michael Phelps (@MichaelPhelps) July 31, 2013

The exact date of the episode featuring Phelps has not been released, but online reports indicate that the second half of the third season will start in January.

Phelps made his acting debut as himself on the now-canceled HBO comedy “Entourage” in 2008, then notoriously hosted an episode of “Saturday Night Live” in the same year. He’s following Ryan Lochte (“30 Rock,” “90210”) and Missy Franklin (“Pretty Little Liars”) as other American Olympians making small-screen appearances after the London Olympics.
