Michael Phelps talks about his win in the 100-meter fly at the Arena Pro Swim Series Mesa.

Phelps explains that last year, he felt like he was tapered for every meet because he wasn’t putting in the serious work during his initial return from retirement.

But, this time around after his suspension, Phelps has decided to seriously take a run at the 2016 Rio Olympics and has put in a much higher level of training.

He needs more attention to details…pull outs from the walls used to be his speciality to come off the wall dolphin kicking and a body length or more ahead of the competition. His starts and turns should also be improved over his brute swimming technique.

Great Interview! It was music to my ears to hear that Phelps will start training for the 200 in order to improve his 100. I’ve been hoping to hear that. Of course, Phelps and Bowman know much better than I about the value of doing that. So, it was inevitable. Still, it was a great relief to hear him say it.
I also like that he is fatigued after each workout. If Michael Phelps really dedicates himself, great things are sure to follow, even at his “advanced” age.
