Michael DeRocco Hired as Volunteer Assistant Coach at Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, August 10. A familiar face to the Tennessee Vol swimming and diving team will return to the pool deck this season as head coach John Trembley announced on Wednesday that Michael DeRocco will be the program's volunteer assistant coach.

DeRocco, who exhausted his eligibility at the conclusion of the 2010-11 season, earned his undergraduate degree in four years at UT. A highly decorated swimmer, DeRocco was an All-American in each of his four years, named a co-captain during his senior campaign and holds the Vol record in the 100 fly and three relays.

"Michael is one of the hardest working, most dedicated and spirited Tennessee Vol swimmers," Trembley said. "I am proud of Michael and excited that he can keep serving the University of Tennessee."

The 2011-12 campaign will begin with the Orange and White Meet on October 13, with the regular season getting underway with a double-dual meet at home against Indiana and Kentucky on Oct. 22.
