Michael Andrew Breaks National Age Group and Jr. National Records in 100 Fly

The highlight of night three at the USA Swimming Summer Junior Nationals came from the A final of the men’s 100 fly, as Michael Andrew swam a 52.57 to break the 15-16 National Age Group Record and meet record. The previous NAG was 52.75 set by Justin Lynch in 2013. Andrew was just off the World Junior Record of 52.52, and went out in a 24.36, .14 seconds faster than he did in his prelim swim of 52.86.

Maxime Rooney got the silver in this event with a time of 53.40. He was followed by Mathias Oh and Michael Thomas who tied for third in 53.84. Alex Valente (54.11), Ariel Spektor (54.58), Cameron Craig (55.06) and Mark Jurek (55.07) rounded out the top eight finishers.

Will MacMillan swam a 54.73 to win the B final, while Kyle Grissom went a 54.18 to take the C final. Both swims were Olympic Trials Cuts.
