Miami-Ohio, Evansville vs. Southern Illinois

CARBONDALE, Illinois, October 8. THE Southern Illinois men's swimming and diving team swept a tri-meet with Evansville and Miami (OH) on Saturday morning. The Salukis beat Evansville, 200-37, and Miami (OH), 162-81.

"I was really pleased with how we raced today," head coach Rick Walker said. "We had some good swims and we had some not-so-great swims, but the effort was there across the board, which let us get two great wins today."

Of the 13 events, SIU posted the best mark in 11. Four Salukis won multiple events. Matt Parsons won the 200 meter freestyle and the 200 meter butterfly. Csaba Gercsak won the 1,000 and 500-yard freestyles, Juan Arbelaez won the 50 and 100-yard freestyles, and Cesar Perez won the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard backstroke.

The Salukis are in action again next Saturday with a dual meet against Missouri State in Springfield, Mo.
