Miami of Ohio Women Beat Ohio University in Showdown of MAC Giants

OXFORD, Ohio, February 6. THE Ohio University women's swimming and diving team fell to Miami 189-109 on Friday at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.

The loss moved Ohio to 8-2, 6-1 in the Mid-American Conference, while Miami improved to 11-1, 7-0 in the conference.

The Bobcats won just five of 16 events on the day. Senior Shannon Kelly (
Vandergrift, Pa.) won three individual events touching the wall first in
the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.13, 100 with a 52.16 and the 200-IM with a swim of 2:06.02.

Becky McGaughey (Nicholasville, Ky.) won the only other individual event
for the Bobcats with a 1:53.03 time in the 200-yard freestyle.

The relay team of Irena Stavreska, Samantha Pfaller, Genevieve Boucher and McGaughey won the 200 relay with a time of 1:39.95.

Senior Courtney Gould (Attleboro, Mass.) posted two second place finishes
with a 58.61 in the 100-yard butterfly and a 2:05.71 in the 200 fly.

Senior Heather Rennebohm (Worthington) placed second in the 500-yard
freestyle with a 5:01.99 time, while junior Jessica Waites also recorded a second place finishes as Waites recorded a 10:29.37 in the 1000- yard
freestyle.

Junior Melissa Dunn ( Noblesville, Ind.) finished second in the 100-yard
backstroke with a 58.80 and a third place in the 200 with a 2:06.98.
