By Jorge Aguado

SANTA FE, Argentina, Sept. 30. THE Argentinian Short Course National Championships ended today just as they began last Thursday: with convincing win by Florencia Szigeti and Jose Meolans, though neither set national records.

Szigeti stroked to victory in the women's 400 meter freestyle in 4:17.64, less than a second off the national record of 4:16.67.

Meolans won his fifth event of these championships taking the 50 free in 22.02, with Pablo Abal a strong second in 22.25. Meolans holds the national record at 21.83. Both men made the cut for the Short Course World Championships to be held in Moscow next year.

Two national records were set in the women's 100 meter IM. Maria Garrone of the Jockey Club in Córdoba, clocked 1:05.56 to set the national mark. Garrone, who earlier won the 100m back, is coached by Daniel Garimaldi.

Right behind her was Mariana Bertellotti, Club Atlético Estudiantes, who set a national age group mark of 1:06.37 for girls 15-17. She is coached by Luis Diaz.

In the men's 200 meter backstroke. Eduardo Otero, Asociacion Deportiva Arenas de Necochea, clocked a national record 1:59.29, but the time just missed the Moscow qualifying standard by two-hundredths of a second.

The Jockey Club of Cordoba won the team title.
