Josh Walsh has given his verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee. Walsh, who swims for Memphis Thunder Aquatic Club, is primarily a freestyler. The Collierville High School senior is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

Walsh shared,

“I’m thrilled to announce my commitment to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. I chose Tennessee because of the incredible coaching staff, the world class swim program, and prestigious business school. Every guy on the team was very welcoming and made me feel right at home. I’m beyond blessed to be able to swim under Coach Kredich, Coach Asti, Coach Lundgaard, and Coach Fenwick. GO VOLS!”

His best times are:

  • 50 Free 21.28
  • 100 Free 45.21
  • 200 Free 1:38.01
  • 500 Free 4:36.76
  • 100 Back 52.93

At the 2016 Tennessee High School Championships, Walsh finished runner up in the 200 freestyle (1:38.11) and tied for that spot in the 100 free (45.21).

The Vols finished sixth at SEC Championships last season. Walsh is just a second out of Conference scoring in the 200 freestyle. With another year of training, he could reach that point by his arrival in Knoxville next fall.
