Tim Jecko Award Established
At the June 2004 Yale Swimming Association meeting, a new annual award, the Tim Jecko Award, was established for the best male and female individual medley swimmers. A silver bowl will be awarded annually to a member of each of the Men’s Team and the Women’s Team for outstanding performance in the individual medley.
The last team captain to serve under Coach Bob Kiphuth, Tim was a member of the 1956 Olympic Team. He entered collegiate swimming the following year, winning three gold medals at the NCAA championships. He continued his swimming career by winning national championships and setting records in freestyle, butterfly and the individual medley.
Donations to Go to New World-Class Yale Pool
It was Tim’s wish that donations in his name should help to finance the design and construction of a world-class competitive swimming facility at Yale.
