Danny Gray provided the top finish for the men with a second-place effort in the 50 free of 20.87.

Looking forward with Maryland head coach Dave Durden:
We are looking forward to getting down to Chapel Hill this weekend. With UNC hosting the ACC Championships this year, this meet could not come at a better time of the year. We are looking to hone in on a couple of events for our athletes as we are 2.5 and 3.5 weeks away from ACCs. Also, for our team and staff to celebrate Frank Comfort's last home dual meet is an honor that we do not take lightly. Frank is a great coach whose time and service to USA Swimming and collegiate swimming demands a high level of appreciation.

North Carolina's Last Time Out:
North Carolina's men's and women's swimming and diving teams made head coach Frank Comfort's final trip to swim against arch rival NC State a memorable one as the Tar Heel women defeated the Pack 191-52 and the UNC men triumphed 144-99 at Carmichael Natatorium. UNC's women won all 13 events in the meet while the men won eight of 13 events highlighted by wins in both relay events.

Sophomore Hank Browning led the men as he won both the 100 and 200 freestyles while also swimming on the victorious 400 freestyle relay team. UNC swept both relay events with junior Keith Laabs and junior Zach Swartz swimming on both relays. North Carolina also swept the diving events with senior Jon Fox winning the one-meter and junior Ryan Funderburk the three-meter.

Double winners for the women included sophomore Whitney Sprague in the 200 and 500 freestyles and freshman Eliza Butts in both sprint freestyle events. Sophomore Aubrette Biegel swam on both winning relay squads and freshman Alison Clemens (400 IM) and junior Lindsey Marck (200 butterfly) each won one event and also swam on a winning relay.

Looking forward with North Carolina head coach Rich DeSelm:
We look forward to hosting the University of Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving teams this coming Saturday here in Chapel Hill. They are a well coached team and will be ready. We are coming off an excellent weekend of competition and have N.C. State early this week before the Terps arrive. As both teams are getting ready for the ACC and NCAA Championships, there should be plenty of fast swimming and great diving. We hope to see a great crowd here at Koury Natatorium on Saturday, January 27 at 11 a.m.!
