Masters Swimmer Wayde Mulhern Dies

BLAINE, Minn., June 22. IT is with heavy hearts that we bring you the following very sad news. We learned Saturday, June 21 that Wayde E. Mulhern passed away suddenly at his home in Blaine, MN., at the age of 45.

This has come as a shock to all who knew him. Wayde was a true Masters swimmer, a coach, an organizer, Meet Director, and most of all a friend to all he touched. Masters swimming has lost a true champion and a great leader.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 24 at Christ Lutheran Church located at 641 89th Ave, Blaine, MN. There will be a visitation at 9:00 AM
and a service at 10:00 AM.

Memorials should be sent to:
Centennial High School for the Girls Swim Team in Memory of Coach Wayde Mulhern.

In the next week or two, please take time to remember our friend, your friend. Look to the MN-LMSC.org website soon for more information. In August, we will dedicate the Sternwheeler to Wayde's memory. In the
meantime, please e-mail or mail or photos, stories, recollections, and other anecdotes about Wayde to Nicki Phillips at nicki_phillips@hotmail.com or nicki.phillips@upsher-smith.com. Her address is 4500 Yorktown Lane N,Plymouth, MN 55442.

Masters swimming will never be the same; however, we are all better off for having known Wayde. Next time you are in the water, swim a "belly-up" (backstroke) 50 for Wayde and smile – that is what he would want you to do!
