Masters Swimmer Lyndon Passes Away

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 27. TOM Lyndon, a long-time leader in New England and USMS Swimming, passed away unexpectedly last Tuesday while visiting family in Seattle to celebrate his 75th birthday.

Over a 30-year period of involvement in Masters swimming, Lyndon held virtually every important volunteer position in New England swimming, including both President of New England Masters and Chairman of the NE-LMSC. Lyndon was probably best known for his long-time service as New England Masters News editor, during which time the publication won national recognition for excellence. Lyndon was present at nearly every major New England meet, in more recent years, as a photographer who chronicled the accomplishments of the many young, and not so young, faces of swimmers that later appeared in New England Masters News. Lyndon was also a standout swimmer who set numerous New England sprint records and earned the USMS Individual All American award in 1978. He will be dearly missed by the many who experienced his pure love of Masters swimming.

Please check the New England Masters web site periodically to learn more details about how they will honor Lyndon's many contributions to the New England community.
