The 2017 ISCA Dolfin Jr. National Cup is off and running once again. The meet is being held in the Long Center Pool at the Doyle Aquatic Center in Clearwater, Florida. The meet will take place from March 21-March 25 and will be conducted in a 16 & Under/Open format. Full results are available on Meet Mobile: 2017 Dolfin ISCA Junior Championship Cup.

The Mason Manta Rays made a statement on night three by winning six events overall and finishing one-two-three in the women’s 50 free. The Rays now sit atop the women’s team scores with 233 points. They are followed by Virginia Gators (196.50) and Ohio State Swim Club (132). The Gators are leading the men’s meet with 262 points followed by OSSC (195.5) and the Rays (186). The Gators have a 39.5 point lead over the Rays in the combined scores with two days of competition remaining.

After the Rays’ Foster siblings led the way in last night’s competition, all three were back in action tonight. Carson Foster, 15, started off the night by winning the 16 & Under 200 back in a new meet record time of 1:44.30. This gives him the second-fastest time nationwide this season for 15 year olds in this event. His older brother, Jacob Foster, claimed the 16 & Under 500 free in a 4:24.54. On the women’s side, Hannah Foster (23.51) was joined by teammates Ashley Volpenheim (22.89) and Lauren Olson (23.41) to take the top three spots in the 50 free, sweeping 28 points for the Rays.

At just 14 years of age, teammate Adam Chaney put on a performance in the 16 & Under 50 freestyle, winning the event in 20.79. He was the only swimmer under the age of 16 in both the A and B finals. 15-year-old Cora Dupre swam her 50 in similar fashion, as she was the only swimmer in the 16 & Under event to break 23 seconds. Her winning time of 22.84 clipped the meet record of 22.86 set in 2015. Additionally, 1,650 champion Allison Bloebaum doubled up on distance events by winning the open 500 free in 4:47.91

Grosse Point’s Alexis Wenger won the 16 & Under 50 breast crushing the meet record with a 28.67. OSSC’s Janessa Mathews was a close second in 28.96 while Empire’s Josephine Panitz took third in 29.32. Potomac’s Holly Jansen broke the open record with a time of 28.33. SWAT’s Lauren Stingler was also under the previous record in 28.45 and Enfinty’s Makenna Markert took third in 29.22.

ODAC’s Patrick Lacore kept the trend going as he also established a new meet record in the 16 & Under 50 breast with a time of 25.66. West Chicago’s Garrett Clarson took second in 25.98 Middle Tennessee’s Jarel Dillard was third in 26.35. OSSC’s Jason Mathews rounded out the sprint breatstroke victors by winning the open event in 25.19. Potomac’s Gianmichel D’Alessandro took runner-up honors in 25.69 followed by Shawmut’s Mitchell Gariepy in 25.73.

The Gator women proved their dominance once again in the 16 & Under 200 back as Emma Muzzy went four-for-four winning the 200 back in 1:53.38. This was nearly a three second drop from her own meet record set last year and puts her second in the national rankings. Teammate Olivia Bray tied for third in a 1:58.01 with NBAC’s Lauren Poole. NBAC teammate Easop Lee claimed second with a 1:55.70. This was almost a four second drop for the 16 year old. Ridgefield’s Marcella Maguire claimed her second event of the week taking tonight’s open 200 back in 1:54.64. She was followed by Tide’s Callie Dickinson (1:56.07) and Quest’s Camryn Curry (1:59.58).

Gator Noah Bowers (1:46.57) and St. Croix’s Shane Blinkman (1:47.37) continued their impressive weeks by rounding out the podium in the 16 & Under 200 back. But the Fosters were not the only siblings in action tonight as Quest’s Clark (1:41.31) and Ethan Beach (1:44.36) took first and second, respectively in the open 200 back. Both men were under the previous meet record of 1:45.47 set by Shawmut’s Shawn Nee in 2014. Ridgefield’s Kieran Smith was third in 1:45.52.

The 16 & Under Rays sprint stars of Dupre and Chaney were succeeded by Alexandra Moderski (23.07) and Whittney Hamilton (23.11) on the women’s side and Cason Wilburn (20.82) and Lucas Farrar (20.92) on the men’s. Daniel Krueger (19.84), Benjamin Sugar (20.53) and Corey Shepard (20.61) took the top three spots in the men’s Open 50. Coming in to the meet with a 20.00, this was Krueger’s first time under 20 and gives him the second spot in the national rankings for his age.

NBAC’s Lee was at it again in the 500, winning the 16 & Under event in a blazing meet-record time of 4:41.91. She was followed by Gator’s Caroline Kulp (4:46.12) and OCCS’ Emily Hetzer (4:47.23). Bloebaum was followed by Danielle Hepler (4:49.11) and Madison Hartigan (4:52.85) in the open event.

Brennan Doss took second in the 16 & Under 500 in 4:27.61 while Nicholas Lawson was third in 4:28.45. Clark Beach picked up one more win tonight in the open 500 (4:21.47) and was followed by Greg Reed (4:22.84) and Theodore Smith (4:24.47).
