Maryland 3-1A High School State Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Maryland, March 6. FREDERICK and Walkersville walked away with state titles at the Maryland 3-1A High School State Championships. On the girls' side, Frederick tallied 238 points for first followed by Middletown (233) and Stephen Decatur (211). The Walkersville boys won with 269 points while North Harford took second (259) and Fallston placed third (233).

Girls Results
Middletown's Chelsea Rossick, Samantha Lilley, Katelyn Rossick, and Kameryn Corcoran won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:58.99.

K. Rossick was a dual event winner in the 200 IM (2:10.99) and the 100 butterfly (59.47).

Sophomore Kelsey Lessard (Queen Anne's) won the 200 freestyle (2:03.06) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.86).

Frederick's Hanne Borgersen had individual wins in the 50 and 100 freestles. She clocked times of 25.21 and 54.27, respectively. She teamed up with Kira Huber, Sara Mott and Jordan Chamblee for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.78).

Mott, Chamblee, Borgersen, and Carolyn Sife won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:51.40.

Boys Results
Frederick won two of three relays. Jake Carlsen (the 200 free champ in 1:48.32), Connor Eliff, Austin Braswell, and Will Parker won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.14.

Parker had individual wins in the 50 and 100 freestyles. He clocked times of 21.99 and 49.26, respectively.

Carlsen, Braswell, Eliff, and Parker won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.19. They surpassed last year's state record (1:33.44) set by Huntingtown's J. Sheldon, J. Moorman, L. Dohrman, and T. Morgan.

Walkersville's Kent Southern was a dual event winner in the 200 IM (2:06.01) and the 100 breaststroke (1:03.95).

Jesse Rowles (North Harford) won the 100 butterfly in 54.33. He teamed up with Dillon Wilson, Jimmy Driver and Gabe Lackey for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:28.33).
