Marco Koch Headlines 14-Member German World Champs Roster

Following the conclusion of the 2017 German National Championships, the German Swimming Federation has announced a roster of 14 swimmers for the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest.

The roster of 14 includes only four women and will not feature any all-female relays.

Among those featured on the men’s and women’s roster are Philip Heintz, Lisa Graf, and Aliena Schmidtke, all of whom broke National Records this past weekend in Berlin. Additionally, 2015 World Champion in the 200 breast, Marco Koch, will get a chance to defend his title despite not earning a qualifying time in finals in Berlin. Koch’s prelim time, however, was under the qualifying time.

Women’s Team:

  • Franziska Hentke
  • Lisa Graf
  • Celine Rieder
  • Aliena Schmidtke

Men’s Team:

  • Philip Heintz
  • Clemens Rapp
  • Damian Wierling
  • Poul Zellmann
  • Marco Koch
  • Christian Lehn
  • Marek Ulrich
  • Florian Wellbrock
  • Marius Kusch
  • Jacob Heidtmann

The staff will be led by head coach Henning Lambertz. Additional coaches include Frank Lamodke, Stefan Hansen, Nicole Endruschat, and Veith Sieber.

Steffen Bernhardt will be the team manager, while Dr. Michael Ehnert comes on board as the team doctor. Ehnert will be joined by physios Susanna Pradel, Yvonne Schiegler, and Antonino Cancelliere.
