Madison Memorial, Whitnall Win Wisconsin State Girls High School Team Titles

MADISON, Wisconsin. SPARKED by Jane Evans, Madison-Memorial High School won the Division I team title at the Wisconsin Girls High School State Swimming and Diving Championships in Madison, November 11.

Evans, a junior, won the 200 IM in 2:04.51 and the 100 breast in 1:05.46, as Memorial chalked up 302.5 points. In the battle for the second spot, Arrowhead just aced out Madison-West, 236 to 235 points.

Sarah Wanezek also won two events. The Brookfield-East senior took the 100 fly in 54.85, just off her state record of 54.55 set last year, and the 100 back in 56.10.

AT the Division 2 championships, held at the University of Wisconsin on November 10, Jennifer Skolaski was the big gun, winning both the 200 IM and the 500 free. The Madison-Edgewood senior stroked 2:05.09 for the medley and 4:56.77 for the 500.

Whitnall High won the Div. 2 title with 251 points. Madison-Edgewood followed with 209, and Kiel came in third with 158.
