Luca Mencarini, Margherita Panziera Post Swift 200 Backs in Italy

Luca Mencarini and Margherita Panziera put up world ranked times in the 200-meter back during day three of the Italian National Championships.

Luca Mencarini claimed the men’s 200-meter back in 1:57.45, moving to eighth in the world rankings.  Christopher Ciccarese took second in 1:58.63 with Simone Sabbioni placing third in 1:58.78.

Margherita Panziera crushed the women’s 200-meter back in 2:09.63 to move to 11th in the world rankings.  Giulia Ramatelli took second in 2:11.95 with Carlotta Zofkova placing third in 2:12.81.

Gregorio Paltrinieri touched first in the men’s 400-meter free with a 3:49.30.  Damiano Lestingi placed second in 3:51.58 with Samuel Pizzetti earning third in 3:52.31.

Piero Codia won the men’s 50-meter fly in 23.72, while Marco Belotti took second in 23.86. Luca Dotto wound up third in 23.87.

Stefania Pirozzi took the women’s 400-meter IM in 4:39.45 with Luisa Trombetti placing second in 4:39.66.  Alessia Polieri wound up third in 4:42.61.

Ilaria Bianchi won the women’s 100-meter fly in 58.26 with Elena Di Liddo taking second in 59.44.  Claudia Tarzia wound up third in 59.48.

Luca Leonardi, Mirco Di Tora, Stefano Pizzamiglio and Marco Orsi won the men’s 400-meter free relay in 3:18.20. Alessandro Bori, Mattia Schirru, Valerio Coggi and Filippo Magnini placed second in 3:18.52.

Federica Pellegrini, Rachele Ceracchi, Miriana Durante and Margherita Panziera raced their way to victory in the women’s 800-meter free relay in 8:01.02.  Erica Musso, Luisa Trombetti, Diletta Carli and Stefania Pirozzi just missed winning with a second-place 8:01.03.

Que pasa w/Mitch D’Arrigo in 400 free? Q’d second but not listed in Top 16. And 3:49+ for Paltrinieri is terrible but guess all he wanted to do is win and/or make cut.
