Longhorns Set to Host Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 29, THE University of Texas men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host the 2000 Texas Invitational on Friday-Sunday, December 3-5 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

On Friday and Saturday, preliminaries will be held at 10 a.m. with finals set for 6:00 p.m. Sunday will see 9:30 a.m. preliminaries followed by 3 p.m. finals. Each session will last approximately two hours and admission is free.

Not only will UT's Olympians Ian Crocker (Portland, Maine), Nate Dusing Villa Hills, Ky.), Scott Goldblatt (Scotch Plains, N.J.) Tommy Hannan (Baltimore, Md.) Jamie Rauch (San Antonio, Texas) and Erin Phenix
(Cincinnati, Ohio) be competing at the Texas Invitational, but several of their USA Swimming Team teammates will as well. California's Anthony Ervin (50 freestyle -golf medal), Stanford's Misty Hyman (200 butterfly – gold medal), Arizona's Amanda Beard (200 breaststroke bronze) and Diana Munz (400 freestyle -silver), and Chris Thompson of Michigan (1,500 free-style – bronze medal), will also represent their schools in this weekend's competition.

FORMAT: Men's and women's preliminaries will take place at the same time during the morning sessions, using separate pools and one pool will be used for the afternoon finals. The event will use a 25-yard course, eight lane course configuration and point totals will be awarded.
