IOWA CITY – Though she lives in Hawkeye territory, Lizzie Brown is taking her breaststroke talents to another Big Ten school next fall with the announcement that she will attend the University of Wisconsin.

Brown competed in the 100 breast at this summer’s junior nationals, placing in the top 60 with a 1:13.41. She had posted a lifetime best of 1:12.53 just a couple of months earlier at the USA Swimming sectional meet in her hometown.

Brown was Iowa high school state champion in the 100 breaststroke last season, winning with a 1:03.86 in her junior season representing Iowa City High School. According to her Iowa City Eels coach Donald Spellman, she won’t compete her senior year to focus on her academics.
