Learn How to Perform the New Underwater Breaststroke Pullout

PHOENIX, Ariz., November 2. FINA RULE SW 7.4 is now in effect. A demonstration can be viewed here on this site with detail instructions in the current issue of Swimming World Magazine (November 2005)

The rule states that after the start and after each turn, the swimmer may take one arm stroke completely back to the legs. The head must break the surface of the water before the hands turn inward at the widest part of the second stroke. A single downward dolphin kick followed by a breaststroke kick is permitted while wholly submerged.

Note: This new rule does not apply to High School Swimming during the 2005-2006 season.
