Laszlo Cseh Wins 200-Meter IM in Day Five of Hungary National Championships

Laszlo Cseh grabbed the win in finals of the men’s 200-meter IM with a swift 1:59.43 at the Hungary National Championships. While 1:59.43 is not his fastest time for 2015 (Cseh is currently ranked seventh after posting a 1:58.31 at the Swim Cup Eindhoven) it still fits within the Top Twenty in the World for 2015. Davide Cova took second overall with a time of 2:01.73, and Daniel Dudas was third with a 2:01.95.

Top Ten World Rankings: Men’s 200 IM

Erika Ferraoli led the women’s 100-meter free in prelims with a 56.56. George Biondani posted a 56.67 to claim the second-place seed, while Elena Gemo grabbed third with a 57.03.

Ferraoli maintained her lead in the event posting a swift 54.91 in semi-finals. Silvia Di Pietro moved up to the second-place seed with a 55.30, while Zsuzsanna Jakabos claimed third with a 55.92.

David Verraszto claimed the top spot in prelims of the men’s 200-meter back with a time of 2:03.48. Roman Dmytrijev (2:04.89) and Niccolo Bonacchi (2:04.98) claimed second and third respectively.

Semi-finals of the men’s 200-meter back saw the entire top shift with Radoslaw Kawecki moving to the first-place seed with a quick 1:58.45. Luce Mencarini took second with a 1:59.21, while Peter Bernek rounded out the top three with a 1:59.37.

Anna Sztankovics grabbed the first-place seed in the women’s 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:33.41. Viktoria Kardos was second with a 2:36.29, while Carlotta Toni took third with a 2:37.02.

Sztankovics kept her lead in semi-finals lowering her time to a 2:31.24. Kardos maintained second with a time of 2:33.01, while Toni held onto third with a 2:33.27.

In prelims of the men’s 200-meter breaststroke Daniel Gyurta led with a 2:13.92. David Verraszto claimed the second-place seed with a 2:17.08, while Edoardo Giorgetti finished third with a 2:18.26.

Gyurta lowered his time in semi-finals to a 2:10.74 to hold onto the first-place seed. David Horvath moved up to claim the second-place seed with a 2:14.89, while Giorgetti rounded out the top three with a 2:15.51.

 

Krisztian Takacs won the men’s 100-meter free with a final time of 49.29. Richard Bohus took second with a 49.47, while Peter Holoda finished third overall with a 49.76.

Jakabos grabbed the win in finals of the women’s 200-meter fly with a time of 2:09.38 missing her 2015 best of 2:07.93 by 1.45 seconds. Lilliana Szilagyi, currently ranked 19th in the world rankings after posting a 2:08.86 at the Trofeu Sette Colli meet, finished second with a 2:09.55. Dalma Sebestyen was third with a 2:10.27.

Top Ten World Rankings: Women’s 200 Fly

Finals of the women’s 50-meter back were led by Evelyn Verraszto who touched with a final time of 29.51. Sara Joo was a close second with a finishing time of 29.53. Reka Gyorgy rounded out the top three with a 29.79.

Day five ended with the women’s 800-meter free relay and two new entries into the Top Twenty world rankings. The relay team of Bettina Boszormenyl, Kardos, Dora Gercsak and Boglarka Kapas from BVSC Zuglo posted a winning time of 8:18.14, also earning themselves the eleventh place spot in the world rankings. Second went to Viktoria Orosz, Szilagyi, Kata Someone Onon and Ajna Kesely of Kobanya Sport Club with a final time of 8:22.89 and the fourteenth spot on the top twenty. Kiskunhalasi UGYE was third with a time of 8:27.48.
