Lady Mustangs Down Houston and Wyoming

DALLAS, Texas, November, 12. THE SMU women's swimming and diving team improved their dual meet record to 3-1 on Friday evening when they defeated both Houston and Wyoming on the campus of North Texas. The Mustangs downed Houston 157-82 and Wyoming 165-78. SMU won 10 of the 13 events to gain the victory.

SMU finished one-two in both relays held on the evening to help the team runaway with the meet. The 200 medley relay teams finished with times of 1:47.93 and 1:49.25 to begin the event and SMU closed out the night with times of 1:38.60 and 1:39.71 in the 200 free relay.

Flavia Rigamonti won the 1000 free in 10:04.71, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Katie Roberts (1:53.21) edged teammate Anja Carman (1:53.65) in the 200 free, while Jenny Basel (24.76) and Jennifer Blackman (24.85) finished one-two in the 50 free.

Roxane Akradi touched the wall first in the 200 IM in 2:06.83 and also took the 100 free in 52.08. Carman grabbed another win for SMU when she took the next event, the 100 back, in 57.79. Sarah Daly won the Mustangs eighth event, when she took the 500 free 5:04.62 and Tamara Sambrailo narrowly won the 100 breast to collect SMU's ninth win.

The SMU women's swimming and diving team returns to action when the travel to College Station, Texas, to participate in the Texas A&M Invitational on Nov. 18-20.
