Kitajma Sets Two Asian Records in Short Course Breaststroke Events

TOKYO, Feb. 24. KOSUKE Kitajima recorded a short-course Asian and national record in 200m breaststroke
at 2.06.00 on yesterday at the Tatsumi International Swimming Center at a regional swim meet.

Kotajima holds the long course world record in this event at 2:09.97.

This was Kitajima's first race in Japan since the World Cup where he shaved 0.32 seconds off the record in Berlin. Today, he clocked 58.51 in the 100 meter breaststroke at the same meet, turning at the 50m mark in 27.55 seconds, setting his second Japanese and records in as many days.

Kitajima's 100 time was 0.05 seconds quicker than the previous record he smashed in Berlin.
