Kelsey Forbord Downs Western State Colorado School Record in WSCU’s First Meet Since 1984

GUNNISON, Colorado, October 19. KELSEY Forbord (Fr., Olympia, Wash.) is the new WSCU record holder for the fastest time in the women's 100 backstroke. The freshman broke the record in the fourth event of the night with a time of 1:02.75. Stringer was the previous record holder with a time of 1:09.20.

Despite Forbord's tremendous performance the Adams State team defeated the Mountaineers in the first meet for WSCU since 1984. In the packed WSCU Natatorium, the Mountaineers put forth a valiant effort in their first meet.

“I thought the meet went well,” Head Coach Brad Smith said. “There are a lot things we need to work on, but overall it was a good first meet.”

The Mountaineers don't have to wait long for their next test. They will travel to Colorado Mesa on Saturday for a tri-meet with CMU and Adams State.
