Kelly Bennett Sets National High School Record

Kelly Bennett, a senior at Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming, set a national high school record in the 50 yard freestyle leading off her team’s 200 yard freestyle relay at the Wyoming 4A High School State Championships on October 30.

Bennett clocked 22.75 for the 50, cracking the old record of 22.78 set by Alison Wimer in 1996. The national independent school record is 22.69, set by Dara Torres way back in 1985.

Bennett is believed to be the first Wyoming student to set a national high school swimming record.
