Keiser Men, ONU Women Still in Front Leading into Day Three Finals of 2018 NAIA Championships

During day three preliminaries of the 2018 NAIA Championships the Keiser University men’s swimming and diving team was able to get several swimmers into an A final heat tonight while the Olivet Nazarene University women’s team did the same.

Kicking off the session was the ONU women’s 200 medley relay squad who posted the quickest time of the morning with a 1:48.56 with SCAD right behind in 1:48.87. KU currently sits third in 1:49.04.

The men’s 200 medley relay featured Keiser University posting a 1:32.38 for the top spot while Thomas University swam a 1:32.80. ONU ranks third with a 1:33.30 from this morning’s heats.

ONU freshman Karla Islas will lead the women into the 400 IM tonight with her 4:29.76, well ahead of SCAD senior Rebecca Justus who swam a 4:31.90. In third was Loyola’s Paige Carter (4:34.43).

The men’s 400 IM saw SCAD freshman Gergely Harsanyi solidify himself as the only man under the 4:00 mark with his 3:59.44, which was god enough to sneak by Daniil Kuzmin who swam a 4:00.75. College of Idaho’s Thomas Sheridan swam a 4:03.47 to take third going into tonight’s A final.

Olivet Nazarene’s Amanda Moran posted a 56.87 in the women’s 100 fly ahead of Alexis Kessler (56.99) to earn the top spot. SCAD’s Lydia Reinhardt earned third with a 57.02.

Morningside’s Suzanna Gonzalez stopped the clock first in 1:53.66 in the lady’s 200 free with Union College freshman Jessica Axford following behind in 1:53.92. Shayna Salzman, a junior out of SCAD, touched in 1:54.07.

Keiser’s Wyatt Engler posted a 1:40.94 to lead the men into the 200 free A final tonight with Thomas University’s Alex Haymond (1:41.07) in second. ONU’s Joshua Bouma took third in 1:41.29.

SCAD’s Sara Lacusky took the top spot in the women’s 100 breast followed by ONU’s Andrea Vega was behind in 1:04.50.

Keiser’s Lukas Macek swam a 55.17 in the men’s 100 breast to earn the rights to lane four ahead of Guilherme Magnoler who swam 55.46. Thomas’ Mitch Graham swam 56.21 for third place going into tonight’s A final.

The women’s 100 back saw ONU’s Morgan earn another top seed with her 57.77 ahead of Loyola freshman Kamy Alexander (58.14) and Brenau’s Lindsay Dowling (58.25).

Nagy Marcel out of Keiser swam 50.50 for the first spot in the men’s 100 back with SCAD Gergo Zachar (50.74) and Asbury’s Clay Bisher (50.93) following behind.

Finals begin at 5 p.m. EST.
