BUDAPEST, Hungary, September 10. HUNGARY’S Katinka Hosszu delivered on a prize for a fun-filled contest conducted by the Hungarian Swimming Federation. As the swimming world already knows, Hosszu recently married her fiance/coach/agent Shane Tusup.
With that in mind, and with the two honeymooning in Seychelles, there was a question about whether the Iron Lady of Swimming could handle taking some time off. Well, she couldn’t, and in fact she and Tusup made sure that they picked a resort that had a 50-meter pool to still get in her daily training regimen.
The duo, along with the Hungarian Swimming Federation, held a contest asking how many kilometers she would train during her honeymoon. The contest pulled in hundreds of guesses with the lucky winner guessing 32 kilometers. Hosszu, in fact, swam just 31 kilometers during her honeymoon.
The winner was awarded with an official Worlds T-Shirt signed by Hosszu, some autograph cards and even a kiss on the cheek during an open media workout today. Hosszu and Tusup also showed off their wedding rings for the media in attendance.
Hosszu also announced her future plans as she is going to attend the rest of the FINA World Cup circuit stops, hoping to repeat her win from last year (she’s well on her way to doing that with more than $100,000 in winnings already). She’s also planning on attending the European Short Course Championships in Herning.
