Katie Meili cruised to a 1:06.56 in prelims of the women’s 100-meter breast to secure the top seed heading into finals at USA Nationals. Meili, who trains with SwimMAC in North Carolina, entered the meet with a 1:05.64 with over a one-second lead on the closest competitor. This morning, she swam a controlled race and still wound up 1.48 second ahead of the closest finisher.

Meili: 31.35/35.21

Australia’s Jessica Hansen jumped two spots to take second place in prelims with a 1:08.04. Lilly King (1:08.16), Laura Sogar (1:08.21), Bridget Blood (1:08.26), Sarah Haase (1:08.32), Andrea Cottrell (1:08.48), and Emma Reaney (1:08.54) are all clustered together in the top eight.

Emma Schoettmer just missed making the top heat with her 1:08.62.
