Katie Meili Opens Finals With 100 BR Win At USA Nationals

Katie Meili can now add a National Championship to her list of 2015 accomplishments. The 2015 Pan American gold medalist in the 100-meter breast won tonight’s 100 breast final with a 1:06.55. Meili won a tight duel against Lilly King, who registered a 1:06.69. King had a monster 1.47 second drop to give Meili a scare and held the lead the first 50.

Meili: 31.21/35.34

King: 31.14/35.55

Laura Sogar earned the bronze medal with a 1:07.41 final time, just ahead of Louisville’s Andrea Cottrell (1:07.63). Bridget Blood took fifth with a 1:07.88. Sarah Haase (1:08.00) edged Jessica Hansen (1:08.16) for sixth, while Emma Reaney closed out the championship final with a 1:08.58.
