Katerine Savard Claims Title Trifecta at Quebec Cup

Katerine Savard pulled off a title trifecta at the 2015 Quebec Cup in Montreal over the weekend.

Savard kicked off the weekend with a triumph in the women’s 400-meter free with a 4:16.73. Savard then claimed the women’s 50-meter fly title in 26.50, before smashing the 100 fly in a time of 58.12.

Savard nearly cracked the top 20 in the 50 fly currently held by Samantha Corea and Rikako Ikee with 26.29s.  Savard already stands seventh in the world in the women’s 100-meter fly with a season best time of 57.76 from the Mare Nostrum stop in Canet.

Savard also took second in the women’s 100-meter free with a 55.14.

Audrey Lacroix, another heavy hitter for Canada, claimed the women’s 200-meter fly in a time of 2:09.20.  She’s been a lot faster this year with a seventh-ranked 2:07.63 also from the Canet stop of the Mare Nostrum tour.

Danielle Hanus had a strong weekend of her own. The 17-year-old swimmer won the women’s 50-meter back in 28.88 and also topped the women’s 100-meter back in 1:02.60.

Barbara Jardin, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in Sept. 2014, has returned to training full time and is set to compete at the World University Games.

Jardin won the 200-meter free in 2:01.91 and the 200-meter back in 2:13.95.
