Kalisz, Knopp Win 800 Freestyle Races at NBAC Long Course Championships

BALTIMORE, Md., June 11. THE other rising star from the North Baltimore Aquatic Club delivered a victory Friday night in the 800 freestyle during the NBAC Long Course Championships. Courtney Kalisz clocked in at 9:02.37 to finish well ahead of teammate Allison Barnes (9:07.17).

Along with Katie Hoff, Kalisz is one of the youngsters carrying the banner for NBAC, long known for churning out youthful standouts. At the World Championship Trials in April, Kalisz finished fifth in the 200 butterfly. She’s expected to be one of the leading American names by the time the Beijing Olympics roll around.

On the male side, NBAC’s Cory Knopp took top honors, as he touched the wall in 8:35.26, slightly quicker than the 8:35.78 turned in by teammate Ian Rowe. Andrew Clark secured third place for NBAC.
