Kaitlyn Sims, Blake Maczka Claim Distance Titles in Night One of Austin Speedo Sectionals

Kaitlyn Sims claimed the win in the women’s 800-meter free during night one of the Speedo Southern Sectionals in Austin, TX. Sims turned in a final time of 8:51.50 for the win. Lauren Pitzer took second overall with a time of 8:52.29, while Haley Yelle rounded out the top three with a time of 9:01.01.

Blake Maczka was the winner of the men’s 800-meter free, posting a final time of 8:19.44. William Karau finished second with a time of 8:22.82, and Alexander Zettle was third with a 8:26.13.

The relay team of Destiny Nelson (2:05.98), Camryn Toney, Hope Jestes (2:11.45) and Gabrielle Kopenski (2:03.98) dashed to a first place finish in the women’s 800-meter free relay with a final time of 8:27.13. Magnolia Aquatic Club was second with a time of 8:33.67, while Lakeside Aquatic Club took third overall with a time of 8:34.41.

On the men’s side it was the relay team of Thiago Parravicini (1:55.46), Aaron Moran (1:56.62), Andrii Nikishenko (1:55.33) and David Moore (1:54.88) who took first in the 800-meter free relay with a finishing time of 7:42.29. Lost Creek Aquatics finished second with a 7:45.96, and Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club touched third in 7:49.44.
