Jordan Schrotenboer, an All-American swimmer with experience as an NCAA collegiate head coach as well as recent work as an assistant at a top-level program, has been named a USC men’s and women’s swimming and diving assistant coach, Trojan head coach Dave Salo announced today.

Schrotenboer comes to USC after a year as a volunteer assistant Coach at North Carolina State where he helped the Wolfpack men’s squad win five NCAA titles in March en route to a fourth-place finish. North Carolina State’s women’s squad finished 18th and featured four All-Americans.

“It’s a privilege to join the Trojan Family,” Schrotenboer said. “USC Swimming and Diving has a history of excellence and I look forward to helping the Trojans contend for future championships.”

Schrotenboer, a 15-time NCAA Division II All-American at Grand Valley State, arrived at Raleigh after two seasons as the head coach at King University in Bristol, Tenn.

“We are excited about adding Jordan to our staff this year,” USC Head Coach Dave Salo said. “His path to USC is paved with experiences at every level, including head coaching experience. His most recent position at NC State will certainly enhance our program from recruiting to on-deck training strategies.

“Jordan has been a coach in my camp so we have had the chance to work with each other and I am certain we will work well together with a lot of energy that will have a positive impact with our team.

In two seasons (2015-17) as the King University Head Coach, Schrotenboer’s swimmers broke 35 event records a total of 103 times. His men’s squad improved its conference team scores by over 300%, his women by 64%.

Schrotenboer served as an assistant coach at East Grand Rapids (2014-15) after three years as an assistant at Calvin College (2012-15) in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he helped develop numerous NCAA Division III All-Americans as well as conference champions.

He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at Iowa Lakes C.C. in 2011-12 after graduating from Grand Valley State with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physical Education-Sports Leadership in 2011. He helped lead the Lakers to a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and was a team captain. He also earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Iowa State.

In addition, Salo announced the return of Kathie Wickstrand to the Trojans. Wickstrand serves as a special consultant to coach Salo, working on organizational dynamics and communications.
