Jimmy Feigen Wins 50 Free Shootout and Bill Nixon Pro-Am

Jimmy Feigen had his mind set on the 50 Free Shootout entering the final day of the Bill Nixon Memorial Pro-Am in Lewisville, Texas. The final day of the meet also featured the final round of the Shootout, and the winner would be awarded a $300 cash prize.

Despite being seeded second entering the last round, Feigen handled top seed Brett Ringgold with a 22.45. Ringgold was nearly a half second behind, finishing in 22.93. Jeremy Nichols ended up third in 23.80. Ringgold and Nichols took solace in the fact that all top three finishers received prizes.

Amanda Kendall won the women’s 50 Free Shootout with a final time of 25.08. With the win, Kendall has fattened her wallet an extra $300. Liliana Ibañez Lopez was second in 25.72, while Nina Rangelova wound up third with a 25.77.

Laura Pitzer had been in the top three in numerous events this weekend and finally came home with a win in the women’s 200-meter free. She touched the wall first with a solid 2:03.14. Haley Yelle finished second in 2:04.15, while Madeline Hoch took third in 2:05.57.

Texas swimmer Cory Loria topped the men’s 200-meter free in 1:57.79. He finished ahead of Austin Whalen, who swam a 1:58.93. It took Felix Van Cauwelaert a 1:59.01 to crack the podium for third place.

Megan Romano dominated the women’s 100-meter back with a 1:03.31. Despite being well off her best time, she won the event by over two and a half seconds. Amanda Armstrong (1:06.00) and Madison Straight (1:07.15) finished second and third, respectively.

Jacob DeMercurio clocked a 58.19 to win the 100-meter back. Duncan Lee silvered in 59.78, touching just ahead of third-place finisher Brendan Feehery (59.83).

Prize money was increased this year for Professional Athletes only:
First Place: $1000 for 50 Free.
$400 for 100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Fly, and 100 Breast.
Second Place: $750 for 50 Free.
$300 for 100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Fly, and 100 Breast.
Third Place: $500 for 50 Free.
$200 for 100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Fly, and 100 Breast.
