Jim Rumbaugh Named Head Coach of Pilot Aquatic Club

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, September 19. FOLLOWING the apparent suicide of head coach Larry Shofe a month ago, Pilot Aquatic Club had to act fast to find a replacement heading into the next season.

Today, Jim Rumbaugh was named as the new man to lead Pilot during what will likely be a turbulent year. Rumbaugh signed a four-year contract and will begin his duties immediately.

Rumbaugh recently served as head coach of Tennessee Aquatics and was an assistant coach for the men's program at the University of Tennessee. He also coached at the Dynamo Swim Team in Atlanta, Ga., and was head coach of the Lompoc Tsunami Swim Team in Lompoc, Calif.

He swam for the University of Tennessee and was a five-time All-American.
