Jeremy Kipp Hired As Assistant Swimming Coach at University of Southern California

LOS ANGELES, California, June 28. JEREMY Kipp, with close to a decade of Division I collegiate coaching experience, has been named a men's and women's assistant swimming coach, USC head coach Dave Salo announced today.

Kipp comes to USC after serving as an assistant coach at UC Santa Barbara for the past eight seasons, the last four of which were spent as head assistant coach.

"Jeremy brings the necessary experience to carry on the duties as efficiently as former assistant coach Adam Crossen," Salo said. "I have watched Jeremy grow as a coach over the past several years. His eagerness to build a winning team, combined with his coaching style and professional skill, will help us contend for NCAA titles year after year.

"Jeremy joins a group of coaches (including Staciana Winfield and Paul Davidson) that allows me to be the best coach that I can be. There is such great positive energy on the deck and Jeremy will add to the championship environment we are creating."

Said Kipp upon joining the Trojan staff: "I am excited to be at USC to work with both the swimmers and coach Salo. Trojan swimmers are some of the very best in the world. You look down the deck at the faces and see Olympic and NCAA champions. When you walk down the halls, you see the plaques of former swimmers who were truly giants of the sport and you can not help but be excited.

"Additionally, coach Salo is considered by many in the swimming community to be a true innovator and when he runs a practice you can tell every athlete is engaged completely in the workout. This is an exciting time in USC swimming history and I am honored to be a part of that and I also think that when our recruits come onto the beautiful campus and see the Trojan swimmers training that they will want to be a part of that environment."

While at UCSB, Kipp was the recruiting coordinator in addition to his coaching duties. He worked primarily with the middle distance group and produced one All-American and one U.S. Pan American Games team qualifier (Pat Cary) in 2007.

He helped guide multiple NCAA Championships qualifiers while in Santa Barbara as well as some Olympic Trial qualifiers and more than a dozen new U.S. senior national qualifiers.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in English from Bloomsburg University, where he competed on the swim team for four years, serving as team captain for the final two.

He later obtained a master's of science degree in physical education at Azusa Pacific University while working at UCSB. After obtaining his master's degree, he served on the UCSB faculty, teaching classes in the exercise and sports sciences department.

He also has been a member of the Santa Barbara Swim Club's coaching staff for the past eight years and was also head coach of the UCSB Masters team.

He is engaged to Suzanne Bagg.
