Japan Open: Rie Kanetou Tops Japanese Record in Prelims

TOKYO, Japan, February 21. RIE Kanetou clinched a Japanese record in the women's 200 breaststroke over short course meters during prelims of the second day of the Japan Open.

Kanetou clocked a time of 2:19.76 to edge the previous national record. Nanaka Tamura checked in with the old record of 2:19.89 set back in 2007 in Tokyo.
