NEW COMMIT: Janik Wing has announced his verbal commitment to swim for Lehigh University as part of the class of 2023. A native of Center Valley, Pa., he will stay in-state and compete for the Mountain Hawks beginning in the fall of 2019.

Primarily a butterflyer, Wing swims year-round with Emmaus Aquatic Club where he won the 100 fly (56.87) at the Eastern Senior Zone Long Course Championships earlier this month. Competing for Southern Lehigh High School, he recorded a third-place showing in the 200 IM (1:59.98) and finished fifth in the 100 fly (52.05) at the PIAA District XI AAA Championships as a junior.

He told Swimming World:

“I absolutely love Lehigh for all it has to offer academically and athletically. Lehigh has a competitive team with dedicated coaches and unrivaled spirit. I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, friends, and family for helping me get here. I couldn’t be more excited to be a Mountain Hawk!”

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 50.84
  • 200 fly – 1:54.73
  • 200 IM – 1:58.13
  • 100 free – 48.89
  • 200 free – 1:46.91

Wing will join a solid training group when he arrives on campus next fall. He will have one year to train with Theodore Smith, who finished 16th at the 2018 Patriot League Championship where Lehigh took sixth overall.
