Janet Evans Lowers Masters World Record in 400 Freestyle

MISSION VIEJO, California, August 18. IN her continuing quest to participate in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, Janet Evans lowered her own Masters world record in the 400 freestyle last weekend at the Southern Pacific Masters Association's long course championships in Mission Viejo, Calif.

Evans, who is 40 years old per FINA Masters rules, swam a 4:22.87 in the 400 free to set a new standard in the 40-44 age group, faster than the 4:23.82 she swam at a Masters meet in June.
