Jacob Heidtmann Among 4 Winners on Night 1 of German Open

The German Open kicked off with four distance events in Essen.

Jacob Heidtmann, who is ranked eighth in the world in the men’s 400-meter IM with a 4:13.28, cruised to victory in the event in Germany with a 4:23.14.  Felix Aubock touched second in 4:31.54 with Tobias Niestroy taking third in 4:34.18.

Franziska Hentke won the women’s 400-meter IM in 4:43.29.  Juliane Reinhold picked up second in 4:50.40 with Julia Schnorrbusch earning third in 4:52.79.

Sarah Kohler led the way in the women’s 800-meter free with an 8:33.11. Marie Pietruschka took second in 8:57.98 with Julia Mrozinski claiming third in 9:03.04.

Patrick Lattwein won the men’s 1500-meter free in 16:17.43.  Jasper Grunewald finished second in 16:24.67 with Chidozie Ozkan Okoro taking third in 16:49.20.

This is the last meet to qualify for Germany’s team to the 2015 World Championships.
