Jackie Vavrek, Ciara Rinaudo Lauded by Big Ten Conference

CHICAGO, Illinois, October 9. WISCONSIN claimed both the swimmer and diver of the week awards from the Big Ten Conference this week. Jackie Vavrek (swimmer) and Ciara Rinaudo (diver) each were lauded by the conference.

Vavrek scored three first-place finishes this weekend in route to a Badger triumph over the Phoenix of UW-Green Bay. The senior swimmer claimed victory in the 50-yard freestyle (23.36), 200-yard medley relay (1:46.54), and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:36.60). The Chicago native is a two-time first-team All-Big Ten honoree. Vavrek picks up her first career weekly accolade.

In her collegiate debut, Rinaudo posted a first-place and a third-place finish at the UW-Green Bay dual meet. Her first-place showing was in the one-meter dive with a score of 214.28, while her third place performance took place on the three-meter diving board (217.73). This is the freshman diver's first weekly award.
