Italian’s Sweep Euro Cup Open Water 10K

BRACCIANO, Italy, June 15. ITALIANS dominated the awards podium at the LEN (League of European Nations) 10K Open Water European Cup today in Bracciano, Italy.

World champion Viola Valli took the women's event in 2 hours 7 minutes, 57 seconds – exactly two minutes ahead of Holland's Etta van der Weijden, with Nadia Kruger of Switzerland third.

Fabio Venturini had a tougher time winning the men's race, but his 1:58:00 was 24 seconds faster than teammate Mraco Formentini. France's Emmanuel Poissier was a close third in 1:58:27.
