Italian Long Course Nationals: Final Day in the Books

RICCIONE, Italy, March 10. THE Italian Long Course Nationals closed the books on what proved to be a five-day outing for the Italians.

Matteo Pelizzari snared the men's 200 fly in 1:57.60, while Francesco Pavone took second in 1:58.12. Niccolo Beni picked up third in 1:58.45. Pelizzari improved to 10th in the world rankings, while Pavone took 15th. Beni improved to 17th with his swim.

Mirco Di Tora won the men's 50 back in 25.33, while Niccolo Bonacchi placed second in 25.46. Stefano Maur Pizzamiglio wound up third in 25.58. Di Tora improved to seventh in the world rankins, while Bonacchi took eighth. Pizzamiglio snagged 14th.

Flavio Bizzarri claimed the men's 200 breast in 2:12.43, while Luca Pizzini finished second in 2:13.18. Mattia Pesce picked up third in 2:13.99. Bizzarri improved to ninth in the world rankings with his swim, while Pizzini took 13th. Pesce shot up to 20th.

Chiara Boggiatto claimed the women's 100 breast title in 1:09.12, while Lisa Fissneider took second in 1:09.47. Michela Guzzetti finished third in 1:10.00. Erika Ferraioli topped the women's 50 free in 25.70. Erica Buratto (25.81) finished second, while Silvia Di Pietro and Silvia Copetta tied for third with matching 25.92s.

Martina De Memme topped the women's 800 free in 8:37.28, while Alice Nesti took second in 8:38.77. Martina Rita Caramignoli placed third in 8:43.32. Stefania Pirozzi captured the women's 200 IM in 2:15.46. Alessia Polieri touched second in 2:16.75, while Laura Letrari took third in 2:16.78. Gianluca Maglia hit the wall in 1:48.61 to win the men's 200 free. Alex Di Giorgio placed second in 1:48.62, while Marco Belotti finished third in 1:49.14.
